JEHOVAH-ROPHEKA
A. "I AM THE LORD THAT HEALETH THEE" 1. A new experience discovers a new name for the God of Israel:
- The bitter water at Marah becomes sweet by the special intervention of God Ex. 15:24-25
- Jehovah reveals Himself as, JEHOVAH-ROPHEKA - "The Lord is thy Healer"
- The song of praise to God had faded away
- The people murmured because they were in need of water B. "I AM THE LORD THAT HEALETH THEE"
- He knew the hazard of their wilderness travel and its influence upon their health
- He knew. further, their need of instruction about their health under such conditions
- Included more than their bodies
- It included their whole being - body, soul, and spirit
- It included their land also; note these scriptures prayerfully - 2 Chron. 7:14; Ps. 60:2
- "Hearken to the voice of thy God"
- "Do that which is right in His sight"
- "Give ear to His commandments"
- "Keep all His statues" - Ex. 15:26
- That sin is at the bottom of sickness - Examples: Jehoahaz - 2 Chron. 21:18; Gehazi - 2 Kings 4:14; David's testimony - Ps. 38:4-7
- To heal, God will have to remove the causes of sickness, which in most instances includes the transgression of the laws of our health - Ps. 107:17-20
- This is an important truth in God's plan to heal His people - John 5:14 C. HEALTH REFORM HAS BEEN IN THE PAST, AND REMAINS THE RIGHT ARM IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION
- He gave them the law of sanitation and healthful living - Lev. 11; Deut. 14; Lev. 22
- That shows that for us to have good health we must co-operate with the laws that govern our health - I Cor. 10:31
- Counsel on healthful living reveals God's desire for us to enjoy good health - 3 John 2
- Our bodies are to be the dwelling place of the third person of the Godhead I Cor. 3:16; 6:19-20
- When we enjoy good health it will enable us to render acceptable service to the cause of God
- To safeguard our health we must heed the Lord's counsel on health
- This is the same voice that was heard while tabernacle was among men
- Of Him it is written, "He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed" - Is. 53:5
- To doubting John He sent word, "The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them." - Matt 11:5
- The woman with the issue of blood - Matt. 9:20-22
- Blind Bartimaeus - Mark 10:46-52
- The lame man at the gate of the temple - Acts 3:1-11
- The woman from Canaan - Matt. 15:22-28
- "If the Son, therefore, shall make you free, ye are free indeed" - John 8:36
- "Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul., and forget not all His benefits; who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction" - Ps. 103:1-3
