PERSONAL COMMUNION
A. "MY SOUL FOLLOWETH HARD AFTER THEE; THY RIGHT HAND UPHOLDETH
ME" - PSALMS 6:8
- Salvation is personal:
- We are saved as individuals
- Our relationship with God is personal
- That makes communion with God in prayer:
- Personal
- Intimate
B. PERSONAL COMMUNION
- It is thought provoking:
- That the Lord of glory condescends to have communion - fellowship with man made out of clay
- And to perpetuate this fellowship with man, He took humanity, in the person of His Son who carried into the highest heavens - John 1:14; Heb. 2:14-17
- This is, indeed, the great mystery, hidden in ages past, but made known in the last days - Eph. 1:9; 3:3-9
- Prayer takes on new dimensions:
- When we view it in the light of God's love and affections for humanity - John 3:16
- This Divine love was so great that the Infinite One, who dwells in the highest heaven made arrangements to dwell with men - Ex. 25:8; 29:45-46
- So the basis for communion in prayer is centered in the love of God
- How important becomes the prayer life when viewed in the light of the above
Bible facts:
- The God of mercy seeks the communion and fellowship with Men; Examples; think of God's love for fallen Adam an Eve; He sought them and not they - Ex. 3:8-9; it was the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that came to Egypt to deliver Israel from Egyptian bondage - Jer. 31:1-3
- And in the book of Revelation we read, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man will hear My voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him and he with Me" - Rev. 3:20
- These and many other truths concerning God's love and attachment to mankind are, indeed, compelling to look at prayer in a new and broader light
C. THE SOUL-SAVING LESSON FOR US TODAY
- To make the prayer life:
- Our first concern - "Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven" - Matt. 6:33
- Our highest privilege is to commune, to fellowship with our heavenly Father through the Lord Jesus - I John 1:3; John 14:6
- Prayer becomes the counsel chamber between us and God - Is. 1:17-20; Matt. 11:28-30
- Think, dear friends, what we miss:
- In neglecting communion with God
- What we gain in making the prayer life our first duty of the day
- Communion:
- Makes us intimate friends of God, who shares the blessings of His love
- God will reveal to us His plans for us as He did to Abraham - Gen. 18:17-33
- Said the Lord to David, "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will guide thee with mine eye" - Ps. 32:8
- When our prayer room:
- Becomes the counsel chamber for us then our life will be lighted all the way as it was for Abraham - Gen. 18:17-33; for Daniel - Dan. 6:10; for Moses - Ps. 103:7 for Enoch - Gen. 5:22-24
- The light of Divine truth will shine upon our pathway more and more unto the perfect day - Prov. 4:18; John 16:12-13
- We shall not walk in darkness, but in the light of His countenance - Ps. 4:6; 44:3; 89:15
- Dear Christian friends:
- Does the prayer life mean all that to you?
- Can you see what we miss, if we fail to meet the Lord in the prayer chamber
- Why not resolve right now to take a closer look at the prayer life - to make it the focal point of our lives
