STAND IN THE FAITH
A. A QUESTION WE OUGHT TO PUT TO OURSELVES
- Am I standing in the faith I profess?
- God is looking for those who stand up for what they profess - Jer. 5:1
- Some have suffered shipwreck in their faith - 1 Tim. 1:19
- Apostasy seems on the increase: Look at the reports from the General Conference.
B. OF WHAT QUALITY IS OUR FAITH?
- The Bible speaks of some that are:
- Weak in the faith - Rom. 14:1; 15:1; 1 Cor. 8:7
- Rich in faith - Jas. 2:5
- Bold in faith - 1 Tim. 3:13
- Full of faith - Acts 6:5, 8
- Faith unfeigned - 1 Tim. 1:5
- Common faith - Tit. 2:4
- Precious faith - 2 Pet. 1:1
- The quality of my faith:
- Does it give me strength in adversity
- As it did to Job - Job 1:21
- What it did for Paul - Acts 27:25
- Does it give me strength to prevail in prayer?
- As it did for Jacob - Gen. 32:22
- What it did for David - 1 Sam. 17:45-50
- As it did for Jochebed in the hour of crises - Ex. 2:1-11
- Does it give me strength in adversity
C. HEAVEN'S DESIGN FOR OUR FAITH
- That our faith be Bible based:
- Many base their faith upon the traditions of men - Isa. 29:13; Mark 7:7-13
- Only the Word of God creates a sound faith - Rom. 10:17; John 7:37-39
- That it shall be an active faith:
- For a faith to be healthy and strong it must be exercised.
- Unless our faith is exercised it will die! Gal. 5:6; Jas. 2:24-26
- That it shall be sound:
- To be sound means that it is free from defect - Tit. 1:13; Eph. 5:26, 27
- To be healthy, free from disease - 1 Cor. 11:30
- That it shall be unto praise and honor and glory at the
appearing of Jesus Christ:
- Unto praise -
- As the faith of the centurion - Matt. 8:10
- As the faith of the woman of Canaan - Matt. 15:28
- As the faith of the poor widow - Mark 12:41- 44
- Unto honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ - Matt. 25:34-45
- Unto praise -
- Examples of great faith:
- Noah - Gen. 11:7
- Abraham - Gen. 22:1-12
- The disciple - John 1:50
- See and read these Bible texts - Luke 8:13; John 7:48; 20:25; Rom. 4:18; Luke 8:25; 18:8; Matt. 9:22; 15:28
