THE TOUCH OF THE MASTER
A. THE TOUCH OF THE MASTER
- Is expressive of His love and care:
- No illness or sorrow can come to us but affects the Master.
- "In all their affliction he was afflicted" - Isa. 53:4; 63:9
- "Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him" - Ps. 103:13
- It is one of God's ways:
- To help suffering humanity - Matt. 8:3; Mark 1:41; Luke 5:13; Matt. 9:23
- To draw us closer to Himself - Jer. 31:3
B. THE TOUCH OF THE MASTER MEETS ALL OUR NEEDS AND SOLVES ALL
OUR PROBLEMS
- It brought life to the dead:
- The daughter of the ruler of the synagogue - Mark 5:13
- The dead son of a widow - Luke 7:14
- It brought cleansing to the leper:
- Matt. 8:3
- 1 Cor. 6:11; Heb. 4:3
- His touch brings light:
- The blind man of Bethsaida - Mark 8:22, 23
- Blind Bartimaeus - Matt. 9:29; Mark 10:46-52
- It is because He is the light of the world - John 8:12
- His touch enables the dumb to speak:
- The man that had an impediment of speech - Mark 7:32-35
- That is His promise to us - Isa. 35:6; Acts 2:4; 19:6
- His touch brings relief to the suffering:
- Luke 7:13, 14
- Ps. 108:12; John 14:27
- "But my God shall supply all your needs according to
his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Phil. 4:19
- Friends of mine, what do you know about the touch of the Master?
- Can you say from experience, He touched me?
C. THE MASTER'S MEANS OF TOUCHING US ARE NOT ALWAYS THE SAME
- He touches us through His word:
- "Did not our hearts burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?" - Luke 24:32
- "Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart" - Acts 2:37
- He touches us through the Holy Spirit:
- Note that touch on the day of Pentecost - Acts 2:1-16
- In the house of Cornelius - Acts 10:44-48
- At Ephesus - Acts 19:1-6
- He uses the lives of His children to touch us:
- The touch of Peter and John and what it did to the lame man - Acts 3:1-8
- The touch of the dead body of Dorcas by Peter - Acts 9:36-43
- At times He touches us:
- With the hand of sickness - Isa. 38:39
- With the hand of sorrow. Most all of us have felt that hand at times when we seemed overcome with deep sorrow.
- There are times when trials come to us and we wonder why; but God, who loves us, allows trials to come to us for a good reasons.
- Meditate upon these wonderful Bible passages - Rom. 5:3; 8:35; 12:12; 1 Thess. 3:4
- Do we recognize that the touch of the Master is ever:
- An expression of divine love - Heb. 12:6-11
- To make us aware of His presence and heaven's interest in us - Acts 12:7
- To give us assurance, divine protection in the hour of danger - Ps. 34:7
- If we could but realize that the touch of the Master is our only hope in this present life, full of danger to body and soul.
